Star Alliance Benefits

The Star Alliance network is a unique global family now totalling 18 major carriers - Thai Airways International, Air Canada, Air New Zealand, Air Nippon (ANA), Asiana, Austrian, bmi, LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, Scandinavian Airlines (SAS), Singapore Airlines, South African Airways, Spanair, SWISS, TAP Portugal, United and US Airways. Regional partners are Adria Airways (Slovenia), Blue1 (Finland), Jet Airways and Croatia Airlines. This year, the Star Alliance carriers will serve over 842 airports in more than 152 countries, carry in excess of 425 million passengers on 2,800 aircraft.

All of this means unprecedented benefits for the Star Alliance customers, allowing them to:

  (or change) flights to anywhere any partner flies
- Check-in once only, no matter how many partner airlines you   travel on
- Enjoy "seamless" and efficient transfers
- Receive relevant frequent flyer credits on all partner airlines
- Utilise all partners' lounge facilities where appropriate
- Benefit from special Star Alliance round the world fares   including a special reduced Special Economy Round the World Fare for Economy Class passengers
- Use Star Alliance Upgrade Awards to redeem miles or points   from their Frequent Flyer Programme account to upgrade by one   class either from Economy Class to Business Class or from   Business Class to First Class on these participating carriers:   ANA, Asiana Airlines, Austrian, LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa,   Singapore Airlines, TAP Portugal and THAI. Upgrades are one-way, one sector travel and are not available on all flights.

Star Alliance Round the World Fare

On all round-world journeys (in any class) using any services within the Star Alliance family, you may choose up to 15 stopovers, making sidetrips or backtracking if desired, as long as your itinerary is within the maximum permitted mileage allowed. There are three fare levels for each class of travel dependent upon the total number of flying miles. Starting from $3,229 for Economy Class (max. 29,000 miles), from $9,989 for Business Class (max. 29,000 miles) and $14,069 for First Class (max. 29,000 miles). A Mileage Ready Reckoner helps you to plan your itinerary. The Star Alliance fare has no seasonal surcharges - the fare is the same year-round. Discounts are available for children and infants. Maximum 24 sectors are permitted on an entire journey. Costing for routing Sydney / Bangkok / Rome / Frankfurt / London / Copenhagen / New York / Los Angeles / Auckland / Sydney would be $3,899.18 (including taxes as at June 2007) in Economy Class based on maximum 29,000 miles fare level.

Special Economy Round the World Fare

The latest Star Alliance round the world fare is especially designed for Economy Class travellers. Competitively priced, it allows up to 5 stopovers and a maximum travelled mileage of 26,000 miles. There are no seasons with the Special Economy Round the World fare of $2,729. There are no advance purchase conditions. A low season ticket Sydney / Bangkok / Paris / Frankfurt / Los Angeles / Sydney would be $3,402.98 (including taxes as at June 2007 ).

Star Alliance European Airpass

See more of Europe for less. A flexible, Economy Class airpass covering a huge number of destinations throughout Europe, utilising mileage-based coupons. Prices start at $US85 for 0 to 150 miles, $US110 for 151 to 500 miles and up to $US270 for 2251-2500 miles. You only pay for what you need, but you must buy at least three coupons (up to a maximum of ten) and have at least two 24-hour stopovers in different cities. There are no seasonal surcharges and coupons are valid for 3 months.

A Star Alliance Thailand Airpass is the ideal way to see more of Thailand. By giving you a great deal of flexibility when you book your flights, you can spend more of your time exploring its sights rather than travelling to them.

You can choose from 14 destinations across Thailand, and buy between three and six coupons. The choice is yours. Coupons cost a minimum of $US159 in total for your first three flights, and $US59 for each subsequent flight (prices do not include fees/taxes). Apart from your first flight, all other flight times can be changed with as little as three hours notice.
