Check-in luggage

Two luggage concepts apply on THAI's route net, weight and piece concept.

On all routes the weight concept applies, except for travel to/from USA where the piece concept applies.

For the weight concept the passenger may check-in several bags, as long as the total weight is within the limit for the booking class stated in the table above.

Due to airport regulations no bag may exceed 30 kg as staff handling luggage are not authorised to lift any item heavier then 30 kg.

Infants

Infants who are not entitled to a seat are allowed one checked piece of luggage with a maximum weight of 10 kg plus one fully collapsible stroller.  (Piece Concept - one checked piece of luggage with a maximum weight of 23 kgs and maximum dimension of 115 cm)

'Round The World' – Star Alliance

The luggage allowance on 'Round The World' and 'Circle Pacific' tickets is based on the piece system as stated in the table above. This also applies to THAI codeshare flights operated by other carriers.

Restrictions

Sharp or flammable objects such as knives, scissors, lighters and matches are prohibited on all THAI flights.

New security measures for travel on any THAI flight for hand luggage carried on-board. The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has announced the following guidelines for the screening of liquids, aerosols and gels (these guidelines will be implemented for all cabin/hand luggage to be carried onto all THAI flights):

a) all liquids are to be carried in containers with a capacity of no more than 100ml. Liquids carried in containers larger than 100 ml will not be accepted when passing through security check, even if the container is only partly filled

b) containers should be placed in a transparent re-sealable plastic bag of a maximum capacity not exceeding one (1) litre. The containers must fit comfortably within the transparent plastic bag which should be completely closed.

c) the plastic bag should be presented for visual examination at the screening point/security check. Only one transparent plastic bag per passenger is permitted

d) exemptions may be made for medications, baby milk/foods and special dietary requirements. Verification of the need for such liquids may be required by the authorities.
